Is The Core Duo Intel's Best CPU?
This is a fun read.
The Intel Core Duo is the processor that powers the new MacBook Pro, iMac, and new Mac Minis. It's a great chip and I've been VERY happy with mine. It's a great chip and I've been getting good battery life from my machine...well when I have my machine. It's still in the shop. That's another story. Check out the link and read the conclusion and power consumption pages.
The Tech Report compares the Core Duo directly to a range of mobile and desktop CPUs from AMD and Intel, including the Athlon 64 X2 and the Pentium Extreme Edition. The results are surprising. They conclude that its performance is easily superior to Intel's flagship desktop processor, the Pentium Extreme Edition 965.

Thurrott upset about Windows Vista.
This is a good read. Paul Thurott is usually a BIG suck up to Microsoft. I have always read his reviews with a grain of salt (you should take mine the same for the Apple camp.) He for the first time I've seen, opens up and says what millions of people are thinking. Microsoft is dropping the ball on inovation, features, and overall quality. Check it out!
Paul Thurott, who is usually excited about all things Microsoft seems very dissapointed with Windows Vista. Here is the conlusion of his review of the latest CTP. He still gives it 5 pauls though.

Apple Updates Aperture to 1.1 and it's Universal!
Finally! Whew. They dropped the price of their pro image editing/organization software to $299 from $499 and made it compatible with the new Intel Macs! I'm so excited! They made it available via software update or as a new boxed item. This is great news! Now let's just get Adobe to pull their heads out of their butts and release an update!
Google Calendar

Google last night went live with a new feature that is showing how they are more and more quickly making the internet the world's next software platform. They launch Google Calendar. It has a similar layout to Gmail and is just as easy to use. Some fun features are importing of CSV (MS Outlook) and iCal (Apple) calendars so you can transfer your calendar. You can access your calendar from any machine connected to the internet. You can get notifications via email, sms, or pop-up. You can share your calendars with the world or specific people. I'm excited about this. I like that I can do a web-based calendar and share that calendar with people using iCal as a subscription so they'll get the changes whenever I update. Check it out!

Getting more stable...
So as things go on I'm learning more tricks and stuff with this space. I'm pretty excited with the Google Reader integration on the side. I'm also a fan of Google's AdSense support. It's super simple and is already turning out money. I did have an issue with a bot posting comments with links to bogus sites so I turned on the image verification, but that's not a major thing. I'll also monitor posts and delete the bots if they break through again. So, thanks for hanging in with me while I get this up and get a steady form to it, but in the meanwhile I'd like to welcome my European and Japanese visitors! Please click the ads if you've got time. They're simple and they pay me when you click so...help a poor college student out!

MacBook Pro is Sick!

I'm sad! My MacBook Pro had to go to the repair center today. Among a few issues I've been having, the most annoying was a loud hiss coming from the screen. It was a sound similar to the noise a TV gives off when on a black screen. It only happened when it was at full brightness, but in my room when I sit on the couch next to the window the automatic brightness brings it into the "noisy zone."
So for the next few days I'll be stuck using my server as my main machine. It's not a terrible machine for email, chatting, web surfing, and word processing. It's a 450 G4 with 640mb of ram. Though, it's nice to have a full screen (even though my MacBook Pro has a much nicer screen), keyboard, mouse, chair, etc. I still miss the speed and convenience of my laptop. I've got a test this week so hopefully it'll be good that I won't get distracted.
Long time, no updates...sorry!
Wow, it has been a very lon gtime since I've updated this space. I'm going to get on it a bit more. I added a link to some cool news on the right under my Xbox 360 Profile. That news comes from my google newsreader. There is a link on it if you want to check that out. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to use this area, but I'd like to get back into the habbit of updating it more.
