RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) A Rapid City osteopath whose license was suspended this summer is now being accused of negligently prescribing drugs that led to the death of a man.
The family of Andrew Scott Vermillion has filed a lawsuit accusing Jeffrey Buckau of negligence in administering drugs that aggravated Vermillion's cystic fibrosis.
The 21-year-old Vermillion died December 16th in Rapid City.
Buckau already had been accused of over-prescribing addictive drugs to patients. In August, he was sued by Heidi Rivers of Pennington County, who was his patient in 2005.
Buckau's lawyer says his client denies the allegations.
The state Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners suspended Buckau's medical license in July. A closed hearing is set to start December 10th on whether to cancel, suspend or permanently revoke Buckau's license.
