HDMI 1.4 brings internet sharing, dreadful tiers of quality:
HDMI is pretty much awesome. The newest version of HDMI, 1.4, has just been shown off and it's got a ton of tricks for being just another video cable.
"Put simply, this could allow a 'broadband-connected television using its HEC-enabled HDMI port to provide internet connection sharing with another HEC-enabled device such as a game console or DVR.'"
Imagine hooking up your new Xbox or Playstation and just plugging it into your television and having it automatically online, connected with the highest quality HD video and surround sound with one cable. Pretty sweet! Now we all just need TVs that are broadband ready. This one might have to simmer for a while.
